Looking for info on John Patterson baptized in County Armagh on 24 Apr 1709.  My John Patterson was born in 1709 but says he is from Co. Antrim.  His wife's name was Margaret.  I have found a 1749 marriage to a Margaret Allen and a 1730 marriage to a Marget Gibbins.  I do not know if either of these is my Margaret.  I do know that John immigrated to the US prior to 1750, and I really don't know if he married one of these women or if he married in the US.  He was Presbyterian.  I don't know anything else about him in Ireland but have quite a bit on him in the US.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

In lieu of any other corroborating information it might be difficult to tell these John entries from each other. As we don?t know his parents? names you can?t tell if his wife was Margaret Allen or Margaret Gibbins from the marriage details you have located. Indeed this might be something that can never be solved.  In relation to location, a small part of Armagh and Antrim share a border so they are geographically close anyway. Hopefully, a volunteer will be able to shed some light on this. However, as I say, we need to be able to access info that would allow us to cross-reference both Johns and eliminate one (or both).

As an aside, have you tried searching Ancestry.com or RootsWeb for messages or family trees?

    Best wishes
