Hello. I've just joined the group and am trying to find how to locate any records for my Great Grandfather, George Rogers. I'm in the United States and Census records here show he was from Northern Ireland, born in May 1857 (in Portadown possibly). I believe he left for the USA in the early 1880's and married Eliza Hughes about 1882. From what I've been able to find his parents may have been Thomas Rogers / Ann Dilbert and siblings may have included Mary Jane Rogers, Margaret Ann Rogers, Robert Rogers, Thomas T. Rogers. I've had a difficult time as the state of New York in the US does not release marriage/birth/death records and he relocated in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York, USA where my grandfather, Joseph Henry Rogers, was born in 1888. I'm hoping someone may be able to help.

If your ancestors were not Catholic then the civil marriage record below may be the correct record. (As Background, non Catholic marriages from 1845-1863 were civilly registered. Catholic marriages were civilly registered starting in 1864.
Note the spouse was Ann Dilworth not Dilbert. Let me know.

Thanks! That really helped. The year's match and after doing some more cross referencing, I was able to confirm Ann Dilworth / Thomas Rodgers are indeed my great-great-grandfather/grandmother. It also helps knowing the real spelling of their last name at the time. So many changed or shortened their names when they relocated to the United States in the late 1800's. Part of that was because those helping them and recording names misspelled the names and it was adopted and used that way from then on. If you happen across any other information or birth records for their children or parents, I would be very appreciative if you'd pass this along too. If not, that's okay. You have been a GREAT help already :). Again, my thanks!

Glad the record helped.
I checked Roots Ireland and there are no baptismal records for the Rogers children. Roots does not have the Church of Ireland baptismal records for Seagoe parish so I presume that the family was C of I. You would have to contact the church.for possible records. See links below.
