Hello! My gg grandfather Henry Cinnamon was born 10 Sept 1816, emigrated to Ottowa area, Canada 1843. His brother Daniel was born in Co. Armagh circa 1828' emigrated to Canada between 1861 and 1871. Henry was listed as a labourer. Daniel was a weaver in Ireland. i have not been able to place Henry and Daniel in their Irish family. I am focused on Drumcree because of naming conventions. henry's first generation were named Robert Smith Cinnamon, Thomas Isaac, Sarah, James, Martha Ellen, Mary, Margaret, Amdrew Benson. Isaac and Daniel are not that common names inrecords I can find on line. Portadown area has many Sinnamons, if spelling of Cinnamon vs Sinnamon means anything there may be a connection to Henry Cinnamon who was a linen draper, later manufacturer in Drumgooland. Any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome! henry married Sarah Smith in Canada around 1850, Daniel never married.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the spelling of the surname. Most working class people in the 1800s were illiterate and the spelling would therefore often vary according to the whim of the official recording it. A different official could mean a different spelling. The family, being generally unable to read, were unlikely raise any objection to a new spelling.
You don’t say what denomination your family were. Do you know? If they were Church of Ireland and came from Drumcree, then their parish records start in 1788. Have you checked them? (There’s a copy in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast.
