I have been attempting to trace the origin of my GGG grandfather, Patrick Larkin, for some time. Through research & DNA testing, I've come to find that he likely originated in (or very near) Co. Armagh. The Larkin surname (as well as the genetic signature) have been recorded in the south of the county, inlcuding Jonesborough, so I thought I might turn here for advice.
Patrick would have been born in Ireland within a year of 1827. He emigrated to the USA at an unknown date; the passenger lists I've researched suggest that it could have been 1846 or 1849. He settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania no later than 1854, where he would ultimately pass away on March 17, 1899.
I'd be happy to hear any thoughts or advice on undertaking further research in the area; while I'm currently abroad, I'd love to have an excuse to return.
