RICE, Michael from Markethill Armagh

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help me with this query .. please if possible :)

My ancestor .. Michael RICE was born in Markethill, Armagh around 1798.

On his military documents found in UK, he served in the 27th foot regiment, rifle brigade from 1816 - 1830.

He left Armagh with the army and married in Scotland, Glasgow, on 5 Aug 1821 to Agnes CAMPBELL.

They arrived in Auckland, New Zealand in 1847, sent out there as an Army Pensioner, (called a Fencible) to work for the British Government in the new colony.

He arrived in Australia in the mid 1850s and died in Sydney in 1860.

Hopefully someone might be able to help me some more with his past in Armagh.

I do not know the names of his parents or anything else about him.  I would really like to find out.
