Do you have any other information on Peter and Katherine that you could share? Do you have any important dates in the family that would help establish the timeframe you are looking at? Dates such as birth/marriage and the date of John's emigration. Do you know the family's religious denomination?

You can check in church records for inforamtion on the family. Most Catholic records are held locally. You can see what records are available in specific parishes on the irishtimes website. For Newry parish follow this link:

You could also check the 1901 and 1911 census records if they are relevant.

FAMILY LORE HAS IT THAT HE CAME WITH BROTHERS JOHN , AND PATRICK WHO"SETTLED IN TWEED ONTARIO " AND ANOTHER BROTHER NAMED WILLIAM  (OR VERNON) WHO SETTLED IN MONTREAL QUEBEC.

YOUR POST SAYING JAMES SETTLED IN TWEED ONTARIO CAUGHT MY EYE AS WE MAY HAVE SOME CONNECTION, EDWARD MARRIED BRIDGET PARDAY  OR PARDEE  AND HAD A SON JOHN IN1848 BAPTIZED IN OSHAWA ONTARIO WITH A SPONSOR NAMED JERIMIAH QUINN

ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS. EDWARD WAS REPORTED TO BE FROM LIMERICK BUT I'VE NEVER FOUND ANY QUINN'S THERE BUT LOTS AND LOTS ON ARMAGH.
