My 2nd great grandfather was born somewhere in Carlow in about 1834. He arrived (i suspect) in Australia in 1855. His siblings (some buried with him) came and lived in the Geelong, Victoria, Australia area near him. His siblings are Hannah born abt 1817, Patrick born abt 1823, Elizabeth born abt 1828 and Edward born abt 1829. Their parents were Thomas Finn and Elizabeth Glory. We belive that sister Elizabeth Finn was murdered and that she may have brought a child with her named Thomas Hayden born 1851 the son of Michael Hayden. I have a detailed tree on Ancestry. Thanks

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked on Roots Ireland for children of Thomas Finn and a wife Elizabeth. Only two records came up and the transcriptions are below. The mother's surname is shown as Fennel not Glory so this may be a different family. As you can see the RC parish is Rathvilly. The related civil parishes are Rathvilly  or Kineagh. I could not find Barraderry in the list of townlands for Carlow.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Thanks for the lookup Roger. Of course we know that names can be spelled all sorts of ways, but ive only just realised Glory could be written in the following ways ( and more) ;   GLOURY. CLOURY GLOWRY CLOWRY
