Hi,
I am searching for the parents of Catherine McFadden and Peter Slevin. Catherine and Peter were married on 24 November 1839 in the Parish of Kingscourt, County Cavan. They had two daughters, Mary and Anne, in Ireland before immigrating to Australia in 1844. From death and immigration records, I know Catherine's parents are John McFadden and Mary Donohue. I also know Catherine had a brother named John who married Mary Carroll on 9 November 1842 in the Parrish of Kingscourt. John and his wife Mary immigrated to Australia with Catherine and Peter.
Peter's parents names are Bernard and Anne. This came from Peter's immigration record. Peter was killed in Australia on 25 March 1845 and Catherine re-married.
I have uploaded several source documents that support this information.
Can you please help me find records for John and Mary McFadden, and Bernard and Anne Slevin?
Thank you very much!

Dear Adam
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and thanks for your query
As you can see from the link below, Kingscourt is in the Civil Parish of Enniskeen in west Co Cavan. http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=529&civilparish=Enniskeen&citycounty=Cavan
The records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Kingscourt and Enniskeen begin in 1838. You could search www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) for the marriage record of John McFadden and Mary Caroll. It seems that the parish records do no start early enough in relation to the marriages of John McFadden and Mary Donohue or for Bernard and Ann.
You could try to locate John McFadeen, Senior and Bernard Slevin on the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837. The tithes were a payment on agricultural land and while they only name the head of the family they can prove useful.
I have provided a link below, to the Connecting Kingscourt website. You may be able to locate someone who could give you some information about any of the family buried in the local graveyard

Best of luck with your search

I don't know if this is relevant, but my Simons' ancestors were related to a McFadden family in Co Cavan in the 1800s. Dan McFadden has done a lot of research related to his McFadden family in Co. Cavan, and it might be worth contacting him: Dan McFadden danmc43@gmail.com

Hi,
I don't know if you're still searching for this, but while I was searching for my own McFaddens, I saw your post. I went to the National Archives of Ireland and found what I think is Catherine as a 2 year old in 1901 in County Cavan. Be sure to click on “show all information “ to see more.

Good luck in your search!
