Hello, I'm looking for info. on my great great grandfather John Tully from County Cavan:
John Tully (middle initial may be “W.”):
-born June 24, between 1820-1825 in County Cavan, Ireland
-parents' names: Patrick Tully and Bridget Duffy (source: death certificate from New York State, US, 1907). They may have stayed in Ireland.
-John Tully came to the US in 1847 (sources: 1900 US Census, and 1905 NY Census)
-John was was married to Elizabeth Ann Meehan around 1851 in New York State, US (she was also of Irish descent).
-John’s death date was Feb. 12, 1907, in Malone, NY US.
-John was a grocer and butcher in Malone, NY. Over the course of several years he became a prominent businessman and owned a block of buildings.
John's daughter, Catherine "Kate" (Tully) McCaffrey, took a trip from the US to County Cavan, in July 1904, to visit her father's home county. I just found the ship's passenger list for her return trip to the US in Aug. 1904. It mentions that she stayed in Bailieborough while in Ireland. This may be a clue as to John's origins.
Thank you for any info., Jonathan Tetreault, Indianapolis, IN USA

Hi Jonathan,
There are two church baptism records for John Tully: 1 in 1825 and 1 1826 on www.rootsireland.ie.
I have attached the page.
You can register and purchase the entries to see which parish they are from and parents' names.
Best regards
