LOOKING 4 FAMILY

Hi Bill, I am an administrator volunteering for the parish of Bailieborough & Shercock.  I looked up the 1901  & 1910 census on nationalarchives.ie & there are whitfield listed in Dung ( most probably Drung, which is in Cootehill) co cavan, this may be your family.  There are no whitfields in the current phone book, but a lot of people are unlisted nowadays.  I have asked a friend in Cootehill, can he help & if he finds anything, I will let you know.   The local paper "Anglo-Celt" is archived  online  at Irish newsarchive.com, it is a subscription site.  

You can also email the Anglo celt & write to the editor, it may provoke a response from the readers.

Graveyards are not fully transcribed & I will keep a eye out for the name when I am visiting graves etc..

Grifiths valuation (free) on askaboutireland.ie also has your family listed, I guess you have that information already.  

I googled the name & I see you/your family  are other message boards.

Hi Bill, my friend has come back quickly & advised that there are no Whitfields in cootehill, they were a Quaker family, he also advised that he has had correspondence with a family from Canada who were also looking for them .  He will ask them can he pass on the email address to me for you.

There is a website quakers-in-ireland.ie, there may be some merit in contacting them, worth a try.
