Hello there.

My ancestor was Robert Mavity born circa 1727 in Ulster.  His wife was Margaret Morton.  They had a son named William Mavity born 7 Nov 1747.  They came to America about 1760.  I can only find these two family names together in Kinawley Parish in 1770, and then it's after my people left.

DNA testing has put Robert Mavity as having a real close genetic connection to a Cromwell McVity who entered Pennsylvania in the 1750's or so.  Probably a brother or cousin.  Family history states that my ancestor Robert was a descendant of a person that fought for the English.  That persons son was strangled by the "Papists" and presumed dead.  He was raised in hiding.

So, any McVity or Mavity variations are probably mine.  The 1630 Cavan Muster Rolls show numerous "Mawitie" names with one Mawyitie.

If anyone has any information on any of the Mortons or Mavity's, I'd love to hear from you.

Regards
