The family I am interested in are on the 1911 census

Clarke - Drumnatread, Tullyvin West  ( 2 families house nos 19 and 20 )

I am looking for a daughter or garnddaughter of these families.  Her name was Teresa, however I think that may have been her middle name or the name she was called as I have had trouble pinpointing her.  I also think the names Bridget Agnes would be connected as these are family names,

She would have been born around 1921. 1922 or 1923.  I do not have her date of birth.

I would like to find out what Parish her baptism would have been recorded in. Would it be Drung?

I think I need to start by finding the other children of these familes ( from the census) and see if they had children with any of these names that fit that age.

I also believe that she died in Newry in about 2003.

So maybe even an elderly parishoner would have knowm her as we are not talking about that long ago.

I dont know if you can help with any of this.   I do intend to come to that area and do this search myself but at the moment I am unable to, but maybe in a few months time I will get time off work

I live in England but my father does live in Galway, but as he is now 82 I cant get him to go on my behalf.

let me know if you can do anything or if you know anyone that might know the families from this area

BIG thank you.  I can send the census forms if you need to look at them,

  • Linda,

Drumnatread is in the RC parish of Kilsherdany. If you are looking for baptism records from the 1920s, the only copy will be held by the parish priest. As far as I am aware those later records are not on-line nor in the National Library.

A birth in Drumnatread should be registered in Cootehill. I can?t see any such births registered between 1920 & 1925.

Deaths in Newry, post 1964, are not on-line, but you can search for them in GRONI if you want, when visiting Ireland. You need to make an appointment and pay a search fee. That allows you to search the indexes for the whole day, and to search all records right up to todays date. Their office is in Chichester St, Belfast.

  • Thank you for your help in this reply.  I will have to check baptism records at the local church then and then i might find a marriage certificate as I do not know the married name and so cant look at deaths in Newry yet.

Thanks again for clearing this up
