Hello, I am searching for any records about my ancestor Thomas Curry. He was born in County Cavan in 1834 or 1836. That is all we know about him in Cavan. He lived with:

Mother: Anne Curry

Sister: Anne Curry

Father: Name unknown.

His mother, sister, and Tom left Cavan in 1850 and came to New York City.

We would really like to find out any information about any of these Currys. They were Roman Catholics.

Attatched is a photo of Thomas Curry in uniform. He fought for the Union during the American Civil War. He died in a POW camp at Andersonville, Georgia.

  • Hi Dan

Closest match for Thomas Curry 1834 in Cavan on www.rootsireland.ie/ is 1831 but the mother is not Ann

The best match with mother Ann is 1840 but surname is Cory - perhaps an earlier or related version of the name?

You might like to have a look at the Tithe Applotments (free site) as there are 17 Curry entries in Cavan.

1827 & 1833. There are no Corys so maybe the above was a transcription error or a literacy issue
