  • Hi Col, thank you for the reply. Yes i did think it may have been Denn. I have already posted queiries concerning my Adam Nixon on this site under Denn but no luck. It looked like an I not an e so thought i had better just make sure there was no place around named Dinn.He was born 1799  going by his enlistment at 16yrs old,so hard to find anything. thank you for the help though.

  • I couldn't find that record on www.rootsireland.ie/.

However there are 106 Nixons in Cavan in the 1821 Irish Census (free online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/)

Click on 1901/1911 main page then select 1821 from drop down box.No mention of Denn however.

Similarly there are 55 in the Tithe Applotments 1825-34 free at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/

Finally if you select Name Search in the PRONI website you'll find 7 Nixons in Cavan in the pre-1858 Wills  http://www.proni.gov.uk/
