Hi- I appreciate the notes here on Staghall. My 5x GGrandfather, Joseph Ingham, was there in the late 1600's. His father (also Joseph) may have settled there around 1650 as part of the Cromwellian Settlement but I haven't been able to prove this - Betham's abstracts 202 and 203 show him nearby in Quivvy, Barony: Lower Loughtee, Civil Parish: Drumlane. I have found Joseph (5) in several Deed Memorials, in the Farnam papers and as provost in Belturbet in the early to mid 1700's. I'd love any insight that anyone could provide.

To add a little more to this...Joseph Ingham was born about 1665 and died about 1763, Lisnamaine, County Cavan. He was married (per a Deed Memorial) to Magdalen Kinselaugh, perhaps a sister to Cromwell Kinselaugh who is party to several of the Deeds. Joseph's clildren were Rev.John Ingham (my 4th GGrandfather)...who is noted along with his son, David Charles Ingham in Clergy of Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh by J.B. Leslie. Other children include William, abt 1701, m. Elizaberh, Dr. Thomas Ingham, m. Mary Farmer, Elizabeth abt 1706, m. Thomas Bennett, Charles, abt 1707, Richard, abt 1712, Oliver abt 1713, m. Elizabeth Thompson.
I'll try to attach the documents on Joseph Ingham from Bethams. Would appreciate information or insights on any of this!

Dear Chris,
I would not be qualified enough to comment on the information you have found. Furthermore, I live quite a distance from Drumlane to have any access to any local historical journals. The name Kinselaugh is now more commonly spelled as Kinsella and pronounced as such. Cavan County Archive Service may hold some documents which may assist you and I suggest that you contact them at Cavan Co. Library, Farnham St., Cavan. A list of the documents they hold is listed on cavanlibrary.ie. Cavan genealogy provide a fee paying service and they can be contacted at cavangenealogy@eircom.net At http://www.rootsireland.ie/cavan-genealogy/ there is a list of what they hold and the research they have access to.
Do you know what religion did Rev. Ingram belong to, if you have not already done so, perhaps you should contact the relevant church body. The Church of Ireland website details what they hold at https://www.ireland.anglican.org and for genealogical enquiries you can contact them at library@ireland.anglican.org
The Presbyterian Church can be contacted at Assembly Buildings, Belfast, BT1 6DW T: +44 (0)28 9032 2284 E: info@presbyterianireland.org
I hope I have assisted you in pointing you to others who may be better able to clarify and comment on the information youi hold.
Best of luck & regards Carmel O'Callaghaninfo@presbyterianireland.org info@presbyterianireland.orgnfo@presbyterianireland.org

Carmel - Thanks for taking a look at this. I'm also quite far from County Cavan...in the States. I'll have a look at your suggestions and am also going to try historical books that may address those who settled in County Cavan in the Cromwellian plantation. I'm hoping to visit again this summer and to wander arounc Belturbet and the Stag Hall area..

Hi Chris,
The following books Society and administration in the Ulster Plantation towns, 1610–89 & CULTURE AND SOCIETY IN EARLY MODERN BREIFNE-CAVAN are both available from www.fourcourtspress.ie & Amazon. They would give you a background to that timeline.
The following website gives you a little more history on the town and things to do etc when you come http://discoverbelturbet.ie/about-belturbet/belturbet-history-the-found…
Also look for articles in the www.breifnehistory.com/journal some of the back issues are still available, which may give you further information.
There is an archive of Belturbet corporation this link tells you a bit more about it and how to access it http://www.cavanlibrary.ie/file/Local-Studies/Archives/Belturbet%20Corp…
Best Wishes and enjoy your trip to Cavan.
