My great grandfather was Thomas Martin, born abt 1859 in Cavan. His parents were Patrick and Catherine Martin and he immigrated to Australia, aged 19, setting out from Plymouth on 20th December, 1877. His ship was the "North Brook" and he arrived March 10th, 1878.
I have no other details of his family in Cavan or where they lived, although I found a Patrick and Catherine Martin from the 1901 Census living in Glassleek Townland in Taghart. Their ages, at 74 and 72, seem about right, but I have no way of confirming that they are in fact Thomas' parents. Any help to uncover more information would be very much appreciated....
