James:
Any chance that Barneys first name was Bryan? I looked at the 1856 griffiths Valuation head of household listings and found a Bryan McBride in Dunaree townland in Enniskeen civil parish

I haven't seen that name before. Barney or Bernard McBride are the only versions I have found. Nora, the 1st daughter, immigraed to America in 1892-1894 and married my grandfather, from Sligo, in 1895 in Wyoming, USA

James:
You mentioned Bernard in you second note. Bernard and Bryan were used interchangeably. One of my great-grandfathers was Bryan or Bernard on all of his records and I have seen the same pattern with other families.
In your case, I think Barmey was another variation of the name.

I apologize for the delay in this reply. My computer crashed and it has taken this long to recover my data with a new computer. The name Bryan, then, could certainly be a possibility. Barney (or Barnard or Bernard) was born in 1850 according to his headstone, and death certificate says he was born in Co. Cavan, Ireland.
He died in Butte, Montana, USA in 1909.
I lost a few emails in the computer crash that I need to locate for more information.
Thank You !

James:
If your Barney was born in 1850 then the the Bryan McBride in the 1856 would not be him since only adults who owned or leased land were in Griffiths.

Thanks Roger, I'm going to do some further research. It might possibly be Barney's father in the Griffith's Valuation. That's how I found my paternal grandfather in Sligo on Coney Island,( Inishmulclohy)
