Researching the family of Hugh McCrossan who married Bridget Walls in Castederg in 1867. Came to Boston, MA about 1881. Hugh's father was Richard McCrossan and his mother Frances Quinn McCrossan. Bridget's father was John Walls but don't know her mother's name. Know that Hugh and Bridget lived in Drumquin area at time of their marriage. Their children were Richard, Henry, Frances, Hugh, Bridget and Elizabeth. Any information about the family will be appreciated.

Hi there,
Could you please post your query here (Drumquin): http://www.irelandxo.com/group/longfield-east-tyrone
Do you know what religion they were? RC church records for Ardstraw East start from 1861 (baptismal) and 1860 (marriage). Ardstraw West start from 1846 (baptismal) and 1843 (marriage). These are available from the National Library of Ireland, Pos. 5765 and 5767, or from PRONI (Public Records of Northern Ireland), MIC.1D/60 and MIC.1D/62.
You could also try looking for them in the land records called Griffith's Valuation (1848-64), which is freely available here: www.askaboutireland.com You could also check the earlier land records called the tithe Applotment Books (1823-38).
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,
Sinead Cooney

Thank you for your reply. The families were Roman Catholic. Hugh McCrossan and Bridget (Walls) McCrossan were married in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Longfield, District of Drumquin, Union of Castlederg. I do have a copy of their marriage record in 1867 but that is the earliest record I have.
I have seen the town on Envagh mentioned in a US military document for Hugh McCrossan, Jr.'s born about 1875. He claims he was born in Invah, Tyrone Ireland.
Have very little about the Walls Family other than Bridget's father being John. What information I've found in Massachusetts have been conflicting to say the least.
