Looking for more information on my Fitzpatrick line. I find them living in Lisreagh on the 1828 census, but can not find them on parish records before that time, so I assume they came from another parish. Andrew was born about 1771, where ? His oldest son was born about 1799 where ? He is my great great grand father. His wife was Bridget Smith born about 1804. There are serveral Bridget Smith's in area, but do not know which one would be her parents. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are no church records for Urney for the 1700s so that's probably the reason you can't find any record of them, rather than that they lived elsewhere. No easy way around that I am afraid.

Urney church record begin in July 1812, Several of Andrew Fitzpatrick's children were born after 1812 and they aare not in the baptizmal records, that's why I think they came from some place other than Lisreagh.

Hi Donal
I'm living in Cavan and I'm a descendant of a Catherine Fitzpatrick (she was my GGGM) who I'm pretty sure was a daughter of that Andrew Fitzpatrick and hence would have been a sister of your GGGF's. She was born ~1812. She married a Patrick Leddy and they were living in Lisreagh in the 1840s and onwards. I think she died in late 1885.
I don't have any specific answers to your questions. However, I've gleaned some information about the Fitzpatricks of Lisreagh. It mainly consists of court cases etc. from the 1850s onwards. I can pass it all your way if you think it might help.
Best regards

Ciaran.
So glad to hear from someone in Lisreagh. I e mailed a Paddy Kerrigan who would be a descent of Patrick Kerrigan married to Catherine Fitzpatrick, dau. of Patrictk Fitzpatrick, but he did not know anything about the Fitzpatrick family. I would like to see any records you might like to share. I am planning a trip to Lisreagh and Ireland this fall. It would be fun to meet you. Thanks for the contact.

Hi again, Don,
I'm not actually living in Lisreagh: indeed the last direct ancestor of mine (Mary Leddy, b. 1849) to have been born in Lisreagh would have left in 1877. I'm living in Cavan town; Lisreagh is just outside the town.
Meeting up would be great. It's amazing really. Only a week or two ago, I knew very little about this Catherine Fitzpatrick who had married Patrick Leddy. Now, it seems that there's a whole new branch of the family tree to be explored.
Are you on Ancestry? I can send you the link to my family tree. Also, there's a woman I'm in contact with on Ancestry (she's based in Missouri) and the evidence points towards her being a descendant of Philip Fitzpatrick, another son of the Andrew Fitzpatrick listed in the 1821 census with an age of 50. We made contact with each other because we have a close DNA connection. I can put her in contact with you if you like....?
Should I email you the files (I can do it via Dropbox)? My email-id is cgr2000ie@yahoo.com; you can contact me there. There's too much to attach here and in any case, a lot of it is from subscription websites and I don't want to get admins here in trouble with copyrights etc.
Good luck for now
Ciarán.

Ciaran,
Yes any information you have would be appreciated. I have made contact recently with several other who are related. One is related to my Patrick Fitzpatrick by his granddaughter through his son Owen. They are Donohues from Glancurran. Another is a McEvoy who come from Lisreagh. You can find what I have at Geneanet. Just put in Fitzpatrick from Lisreagh. I have the only Fitzpatrick there. I do have access to Ancestry. My e mail address is Scotiaofireland26@yahoo.com My only problem in tracing the Fitzpatricks, at least from here, is that there are so many with the same name that I can't always connect them. Probably they are all related some where in the past.
