  • Thanks Miriam for taking the time to do some checking for me. I so appreciate it.

The information on his baptism came from a certification from the parish by Rev Lawrence (last name is uncertain, but starts with "Ha") for the voyage as a bounty immigrant to Australia. It was among other information about the couple on the shipping list.

On Bridget's son's birth certificate (a son born in Australia) it says that the mother's birthplace is “Lisduff, near Ballynacally.” Yet, the ship's list claims that her "Native Place" is "Kilchrist, County Clare."

Bridget’s death certificate says her father’s name is John Kelly, yet for the trip from Ireland to Australia she said his name was Andrew. I am assuming the death certificate info is incorrect, but I’d like to be sure. My uncle suspects that she is related to the two Kellys involved in the Clondegad Bridge incident and therefore lied about his name, but that, at this point at least, is speculation.

Thank you again for your help.

    Regards,

    Shannon

  • Wow, Miriam. . .amazing information! I will do as you suggested and take a short subscription on Find My Past.

Do the census search forms you reference give ages or approximate dates of birth? Your last sentence mentions Michael. . . the Michael Kelly my uncle referred to was executed for the Clondegad Bridge murder, and his brother, John, sent to Ireland.

You have given me so much to research! I can't thank you enough.

  • Sorry. . .I just noticed that for the Andrew you found, his wife is listed as Margaret Collins. According to ship's list information, my Bridget's mother was Mary Egan.

    I'll keep digging. . .
