I miss you all, Knute Skinner and Edna Faye Kiel. A very special hello to the Nestor and Murray families, and also the Healys. I remember you all each day. I will never forget the days of my youth at home and at the school in Moymore.

Reverend Denis Crosby, Parish priest of Licannor, mnay thanks for your loving care or so many. I hear rumours you've brought the patterns back to Healy's well. If it is so, then I long to be take part some day. You have made a difference in the lives of my parents - many thanks to you!

I also send out rememberance to Micky, Jimmy, Nora, Margaret, Francis, and blessings to all I have neglected to mention (or perhaps forgotten as the years go by). You are all in my heart, and I imagine us all in a gathering of souls at St. Brigid's Blessed Well in Liscannor (or is it Moher?). Also a special rememberance to Micho Russell, to Pakie and Gussie of Doolin, and Gus and Doll at O'Connor's pub; to James Liddy of Kilkee, the Marrinan's of Lahinch, in whose establishment I spoke my first word, and to the Burke's, an important part of my childhood years; to Michael John Glynne, and I'm sure so many more. You have passed on, but you live on in me - blessings on you all!

I doubt you'll read this, but hello to John Liddy, now of Madrid, Spain. I will not forget you, although I never knew you well. I appreiate the folks of the White House, and The White House Poetry Revival for hosting my father for so many readings of his poetry. Your open heart and dedication moves me beond words.

A special thank you to everyone who has welcomed my friends, my brother, and myself, on our all too few returns to Killaspuglonane and Caherderry for your incredible hospitality. That goes for all of you I may have encountered on one occasion. You are always in my heart, A special 'Go raibh maith agat' to Jessie Lendennie for her support of my father, Knute.

  • Hi Dunstan

Is there anyone in particular you would like me to flag this with so that they can read it?

Well, the truth of the matter is that I was raised in the townland of Killaspuglonane, but in my lifetime the Killaspuglonane townland has belonged to the Parish of Liscannor. The locals of Catholic faith attended the Moyore church, although I'm not certain what the actual praactice is in this modern day of the automobile. I believe the Moymore church is still used at least for local funerals, but I'm not certain of Sunday service.

I haven't given thought to who I would like to flag this to specifically; I was not thinking of that when I wrote it. But since Killlaspuglonane has not been an actual Parish in about 100 years, it should probably be reposted on the Liscannor Parish page. I did not live in Killaspuglonane during Father Crosby's time, but he knows my father and stepmother well, and I have met him a couple of times with quite favorable impression. He would know the appropriate way to communicate my thoughts to the right people, as well as to send prayers to those in my loving memory. Personally I am not a Catholic, nor was my family, but my heart is rural Irish, and I never cease to hear it "in the deep heart's core", to quote Yeats.

So, although not address to him, I suppose it should be flagged to Father Crosby, and, if it can be, posted in Liscannor Parish, although when I lived there everything was organized around the Moymore church for all of my neighbours, and specifically for those who lived in Killaspuglonane Townland and the closely neighbouring dear families of Caherderry Townland.

Thanks a million, Ms. Doyle. I'm especially grateful to have the chance to post remembrances of those in my youth who have passed on.

    Cheers,
