X-PO KILLINABOY FILM CLUB presents
JOHN MC GAHERN : A PRIVATE WORLD

FEBRUARY 20th 2020 8.30 p.m.

Since the publication of his first book in 1963, John McGahern was at the cultural heart of Irish life.  He was in the happy position of being universally praised by the critics and equally loved by the reading public. After a life-time of dedication to his art, John McGahern, one of Ireland's most distinguished writers, passed away after a long illness in March 2006

John McGahern : A Private World was filmed just prior to the publication of Mc Gahern’s memoirs and these memoirs form the backbone of the documentary. Through intimate interviews, a strong and compelling sense of the man emerges, offering a rare insight into the creative process.

The X-PO is very grateful to Pat Collins for permission to screen this acclaimed homage to an exceptional writer.

The X-PO is located in the former post office in Killinaboy. It is a small community hub for social and cultural activities. All are welcome to the talk.  Admission free. Donations to X-PO welcome.
