Robert Kerse, age 18, b. abt. 1832,  arrived in Boston , Massachusettes, USA on a ship from Galway, in Arp. 1850. On board with him were a Theady Kerse, age 27, Ann Kerse, age 27, and two children: Pat Kerse age 4, and Thomas, just born.  I 'm pretty sure he is my third great grandfather.

I found a record in a Tithe Applotment for a Robert Kerse living in this parish, Killinaboy, in Clare County in 1824. I assume that would be my Robert's father.

I believe this Robert Kerse moved to and settled in Richmond, Virginia where he married a Margaret ??, and had ten children.

I am not sure if the Robert Kerse found in the Killinaboy Tithe Applotment book is my 4th great grandfather. Anybody know how to find out?

Can anyone tell me is Theady a nickname for Timothy? There was a Timothy Kerse with a wife named Ann in Richmond,Virginia about the same time Robert was there. But they did not have  the boys, Pat and thomas. I can find a Timothy and Ann elsewhere with children Patrick and Thomas.

It's very hard to know what is right. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Helen

  • Thaddeus! Why didn't I think of that! And it is  Latin for Timothy! Now I know that the Timothy Kerse who lived in Richmond, virginia, USA  was indeed my uncle, well, my great, great, uncle, as I suspected all the time! I love it! Thank you so much! If I can ever do anything in return, please let me know! Helen
