I have gathered research on my great grandfather Michael Nihill of East Cloontra County Clare, in hopes that I can someday visit Ireland and hear some more stories of the Nihill family. My great grandfather was one of the 10 children of John Nihill and Bridget Millane. Most of his siblings emigrated to San Francisco one by one in the late 1880s. Only three of Michael's siblings stayed in Ireland; James Nihill (1874-1959), Catherine Halvey (1885-1948) and (1889-1973) Of these three, only two had children. Therefore, I am probably seeking the living relatives of James Nihill and Bridget Tucker, who had 5 children and the descendents of John Nihill and Christina Whelan, who had 6 children.

I look forward to hearing from anyone with any information.

    I am descended from the Mullane/Millanes in Cloontra. Michael Millan(e) and Mary Lynch were married about 1833 and had 6 children (Mary, John, Michael, Patrick, Thomas, and Ellen). The family emigrated to Pennsylvania, USA in 1853. The daughter Mary was my 2nd great grandmother, and I have several cousins descended from her brother Michael and sister Ellen. I would love to know more about Bridget Millane and her family. My mom's DNA is uploaded to all of the usual sites, (Mary Bragg Lewis); is your DNA or that of other Nihil relatives posted?
