Hello All,
I read an article recently on Ireland XO about famine evictions. Here's the link: https://irelandxo.com/ireland/clare/kilrush/news/famine-evictions-vande…;
One of my relatives, Michael Cleary is listed as a tenant farmer who showed significant resistance to the eviction, and whose home was demolished. I'm not 100% sure it's the same Michael Cleary though, as I believe the family homestead stayed in the possession of the Cleary's until Michael and his brother died. Is there any way for me to find out if this was indeed my relative?

There were a lot of Michael Clearys in Clare. Can you provide any more info? His brother's name? His parents? His other siblings? His wife, children? Relevant dates?

Right -I had forgotten how many Michael Cleary's there may have been. I know that James Cleary, born in 1876, I believe in the area of Killaloe, may have been Michael's son or nephew. I'll see if I can get his brother's name. Thank you.

Hi Sue:
I believe that you and I have corresponded previously on IrelandXO. I believe that the information that you are looking for may be with a local Ogonnelloe gentleman who may be able to assist you. Would you email me at: tulla@irelandxo.com and I can pass on his details to you or vice-versa?
That's a great coincidence from the article that you may have discovered more information about an ancestor!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Jane
