Searching for my large family who immigrated to the US about 1884 - father, mother and ten children.
Michael Hehir, born about 1830, parents Patrick Hehir and Margaret O'Connor;
his wife Mary Hehir, born about 1838, parents Thomas Hehir and Mary McGran;
Maria Hehir - about 1862, Margaret - abt 1863, Patrick - about 1864, Thomas - about 1866, Bridget Della - about 1869, Jane - about 1872, Martin - about 1873, Catherine - about 1875, Nora - about 1877 and john - about 1878
In 1910 Margaret and Catherine returned to Ireland to visit family for the summer. Their information on the ship's manifest of the SS Teutonic when they returned to New York in August 1910 stated that they were born in Kilmaley. They also stated that their nearest relative in Ireland was their uncle, Michael Nagle of Teermaclane.
I would appreciate any help finding records of this family in Kilmaley.

Dear Jim:
Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Can you tell me where the Tulla connection is? I will be more than happy to look up info for you in the Tulla registers.
Kind regards,
Jane

Thank you, Jane. I had found one baptismal record in Tulla that appeared to fit one of the children, Patrick. It was my only thread for some time, so I have been watching the Tulla site for a while now. Only recently I found that two of the sisters, Margaret and Catherine, returned to Ireland in 1910 to visit family and upon their return to the US aboard the SS Teutonic on 25 Aug 1910 they listed Kilmaley as their hometown. I decided to post this latest query to both Tulla and Kilmaley in the event anyone in Tulla was already looking into my older request. Certainly seeing the ship's record is very strong evidence that I was wrong to be searching in Tulla all this time.

Thank you. I understand how busy everyone is these days, no need to apologize. It's nice to know there are people with shared goals and I appreciate any help you can offer. In my query I mentioned the date of Margaret and Catherine's return voyage to the US in 1910. The August date was arrival in New York City, so it will not exactly match the departure from Queenstown aboard the HMS Teutonic.

Adding more detail to my original post of 8 Jan 2014:
It is now believed that Michael Hehir was born in Bealcragga. There was a Patrick Hehir in Bealcragga in the 1855 Griffith's Valuation, but not yet determined if this is Michael's father.
It is now confirmed that Mary Hehir was born in Furroor. Her family is traced back through her father Thomas to his father James. Mary's brother Martin inherited the holdings from Thomas and was in Furroor with his wife, children and two unmarried siblings in the 1901 Irish Census.
Still searching for confirmation on Michael's birth, his siblings and descendants.
Still searching for information on the family's emigration in 1884.
