I was told that my ancestors were from County Cork and their name is McFadden...My grandfather entered the USA through Ellis Island and his name was Joseph McFadden. Anyone have any info of relatives still in Cork?

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

It is very unlikely that Joseph McFadden came from Co. Cork.(only two McFaddens in the 1901 census in Co.Cork) More likely his ship left from Queenstown (now Cobh) in Co. Cork. McFadden is more a Co. Donegal surname. www.ellisisland.org has the ship records coming into Ellis Island. You may be able to find Joseph and look at the manifest and see who his USA contact was and if Joseph arrived 1906 or later than should be information on his contact back in Ireland. Do you know when he left and the names of his parents?
