Hi
I'm trying to find records for Patrick Leahy & Ellen Walsh. I may have found a marriage record for 9 February 1834 in Ballyhea. It states that also present were Patrick Walsh and another that I can't read. I have not found birth records.
At some point, they emigrated to Brazil, where they had a number of children. I have not been able to find either of their death records.
I do not know where they sailed from, but I am guessing it would have been Cobh, I have not been able to find them on any Passenger Lists.
Would anyone have any ideas on how to find information? TIA

Do you know the names of any of the couple’s children?
RootsIreland lists baptisms for the following children of Ellen Walsh and Patrick Leahy. The first two were baptized in the RC parish of Ballyhea, the last in Shandrum.
Leahy Judith 1836 Co. Cork
Leahy Patrick 1839 Co. Cork
Leahy Catherine 1842 Co. Cork

Hi There I was wondering if your Leahy's were related to the Leahy Family of Creggane, Charleville, Co. Limerick of athletic fame----I mention this because all the Leahy's that I knew were buried in Ballyhea. George Quain. Two of the Leahy's would have won Olmypic Medals 1906.

Hello Patricia I'm very sorry for the delay in replying, I couldn't log in to the page. I don't know of they had any children in Ireland, or if they were all born in Brazil. The children's names I have are Pedro, Alexandre, Miguel, Jaoa, Carlos, Maria and Maria Alexandrina - all Walsh Leahy surname.

Hi Carol, just seeing your message on this excellent web site. I seem to be related to this Leahy branch. I am not sure if I have spoken to you previously maybe via the FB Leahy group? There are a number of ancestors on that group who might know more. There is a big focus on the DNA aspect there, so if you have done testing it might be a great place to start. Happy new year.
