Marriage Register

Names: Patrick Hourahan & Catherine Driscoll

Parish: Caheragh, Co. Cork

Dates Searched: 1859-63

Our search has been successful and Patrick Hourahan & Catherine Driscoll's Marriage Record read as follows:

Married on 28th February 1862, Pat Hourahan to Kate Driscoll of Cloghane. Peter Driscoll and Murty Hourahan stood as witnesses to the marriage.

Their daughter, Ellen, was born shortly thereafter, but  when her parents emigrated to New York, she stayed in Cork with her paternal grandmother, Ellen (Collins) Hourahan until she could follow them a few years later.....

I am interested in following all these lines and learning more about the Hourahans and Driscolls, the siblings and parents of the above.

  • Hello Maureen,

I'm not a local within Ireland but have significant Caheragh ancestry.  I am the co-administrator of the Driscoll of Cork DNA projects and the administrator of the Hourihane DNA projects. My Driscolls were from Garrane and my Hourihanes were from Cloghane.  In addition to those I too have Collins ancestry.

You are welcome to join the mailing lists at our DNA project websites - don't worry, the mailing lists are usually quiet so your inbox won't get a ton of email but we do try and help each other out on them.  And if you ever decide to join a DNA project, either by taking the autosomal Family Finder test or having a male Driscoll or Hourihane relative submit a Y-DNA test, that contribution would be most welcome.
