I will be visiting Ireland thus autumn- have found a church baptism record for Jeremiah O'Brien in the Churchtown Parish (Liscarroll-County Cork. Dated 21 Sept 1831.

Jeremiah married Anastasia Murphy and they eventually went to Canada.

Would like to find out more information and would appreciate any assistance or ideas to further inquiries .

Thank You

  • Hi Marcia

Not sure what you're after but there are a few records on www.rootsireland.ie/ which may be of interest:

There is a baptism record or Jeremiah & a marriage record of Jeremiah to a ?? Murphy in 1841 but the parish is neither of Churchtown or Liscarroll. However 1841 looks to be right.

It costs to view the full record but they MAY have parents' names which would be helpful

  • Thank you for the info. I will check it out. My husband and I will be coming to Ireland -County Cork-

sometime in Sept. So hopefully I will know more then.

i also am looking for a B&B in the locale - for about a week - would be fun to be able to walk around and see everything - but things may be too far to walk. Not sure how it will be to drive on the right or is it the left?..

    thanks again

  • Thank you for the info-however-I went on site and found a baptism record for 1831 in the Churchtown parish for Jeremiah and a Griffiths valuation record for 1851 showing Buttevant parish.

What parish did you find the baptism record ?

I feel like a detective trying to solve a mystery!

if you have any other suggestions -it will be most helpful.

    Thank you,

    Marcia
