My 3rd great grandfather was William Mahony (Mahoney) born about 1760 in Clonmel. He was sent to Australia as a convict, convicted of forgery. He arrived in Sydney in 1803.
We have nothing on his ancestry, so tips for locating more would be great. I understand the digitisation of the parish records will not likely go back that far.
His profile page is at:

Thanks in advance for any tips or info.

Paul:
The RC parish registers will be available next Wednesday. St. Mary's Clonmel is in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore. Baptismal records start in 1790 and marriage records start in 1797. Possibly his marriage record may be available. I would expect great contention on the NLI site for the first couple weeks.
