Hello,

I'm looking for information concerning Helena Ann O'Sullivan born in 1873 (in Crosshaven, I think!)

She married an Edwin Dutson and had 2 daughters, Lilian and Violet. In 1901 census, she was living with her husband and her mother, Georgina, in Crosshaven. I can't find any traces of Georgina on any other records and I'd love to learn a bit more about her. Helena died some time after 1911 census, but I don't know which year. All I know is that her husband remarried in 1915 and Lilian and Violet (my grandmother) were brought up in the convent in Crosshaven.

I don't know Georgina's maiden name so I can't get a birth certificate for Helena. I'd really love to find out more about my O'Sullivan links.

    I checked www.rootsireland.ie for Helena's birth and marriage but had no luck.

    There are 4 baptismal records for Helena O'Sullivan in Cork - 1830, 1841 (X2) and 1844.

    When the mother's name Georgina is added to the search criteria however, there are no matches.

    There is no birth record for Edward Dutson in any county or any year!

    The O'Flynn family tree on ancestry.com has Georgina's death as 1905 in Cork but I couldn't find this record on rootsireland either.

    Thanks for your quick reply. Georgina seems to be a bit of a mystery...! I'm wondering if it wasn't her real name but maybe what she known as. But on the 1901 census , she was living with Helena and her husband in Crosshaven and is down as Georgina O Sullivan, 72 mother -in-law, widow. Edwin Dutson was born in England and I've already found his full family tree on line but I'm more interested in the other side of my family! 

    The O Flynn family tree is mine ( o Flynn is my maiden name!)

    I looked for birth index records for Helena and the closest I could find was an 1870 index record below. Crosshaven is in the Kinsale registration district so this may not be your Helena.  I also looked for death index records for Georgina and it looks like she died in 1907 ( see 2nd record below). If you want to get a copy of either record contact the GRO www.groireland.ie Fill out their forms and provide the year of the event, registration district and the volume and page number.
