Hello All,

I believe that my ancestors were from near Bandon area.  I can trace my 2nd great grandfather Jeremiah Leary (O'Leary) B. 1819 to 1821 to near here.  I believe that Jeremiah was baptised at Desertserges from records that I found (around 1819).  His parents were Daniel Leary and Catharine Mahony.  I have found that they had a daughter named Mary B. 1815? that was born near Bandon.  I recently found some DNA cousin matches that trace back to Mary.  Mary married John Driscoll  B.1805.

Jeremiah made his way to the US through Canada I believe and got married in Lowell, MA, in 1846 to Grace (Gresham) Jeffers (Jefferds?).  I can trace many relatives to them.  They came to Pittsburgh, PA, some time around 1855 to 1860.  I am originally from Pittsburgh.

I am on Ancestry, 23andMe, MyHeritage, Family Tree DNA (both Y and autosomal), and GEDmatch.  I would love to connect with you all and see what we can find!

Rich Sippos (should be O'Leary)

The Desertserges RC parish baptismal records start in June 1817   https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0049    The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has a record for an Ellen Leary baptized April 13 1818, Jer Leary baptized November 14 1819 and a Denis Leary baptized October 26 1824.

I did not locate a record for Mary but if she was born in 1815, records are not available for Desertserges. I also did not find the marriage record.

The 1829 Tithe listing for the parish shows four Daniel Leary records. One in Maulnarouga, another in Tullymurrihy, another in Garranes and a fourth in Kilmaloguewhich could be Kilbeloge in the current townland list. Not sure which Daniel is yours.
