My great Grandfather was John Joseph O'Neill from the Townland of Knocks son of Cornelius and Mary( Hegarty) O'Neill  .

His younger brother Patrick was killed  by lightining the Cork Examiner reported in the townland of Kniocks.

Article atached .

pt.2 of the article "it was unnessary to hold an inquest."  Patrick Neill was interred  at Desert and Patrick Sullivan looks like  Kilnagross.

Can any one tell me where Desert would be and if anyone knows the location of the grave at Desert?

Part 2 of the Article also mentions that two other men had been injured no names mentioned would anyone know who they were?

Thank you

Cheryl

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I think Desert is Desertserge or An Diseart in Gaelic. I would contact the parish office in Enniskeane. They should be able to let you know where the location of the local cemeteryfor 1893 burials. This is the parish web site http://www.corkandross.org/parishes.jsp?parishID=29   and below is the parish office e-mail address.

  • I did e-mail over a yr ago and never had a reply. I did send then another and no reply.

So I hope that one of the locals may know about Patrick and where he was buried.

    Thank you
