I am searching for my Brien & Murphy ancestors who lived in Fermoy & Glanworth before the 1870s. Patrick Brien was the head of the family. He married in Glanworth RC Parish 20 Sept 1851 to Ellen Murphy (parents - John Murphy & Catherine Roach). Their 1st four children (Mary b.1852, Catherine b.1854, Elizabeth b.1856, & Daniel b. 1858) were born in Fermoy. The last 2 children (Ellen b.1861 & John b.1863) were born in Glanworth. Mother Ellen, and known children who immigrated, during the 1880s, to the Boston USA area are: Catherine, Daniel, dau Ellen, & John.
As Patrick did not accompany the family to Boston, I believe he had passed away after John's birth & prior to emmigration. City Directories in Boston indicate the Ellen was a widow at the time. So, I am hoping to be able to learn more about Patrick, his 2 daughters (Mary & Eleizabeth) and the those who came before both Patrick Brien & Ellen Murphy.
Thank You for any help you may be able to provide. Janet

Patrick & Ellen had 2 sons - Daniel & John. Both immigrated into the U.S. Boston Area. Both worked factory, Lynn MA, making leather accessories. John later returned to the Boston area and became an iron worker. He married Catherine Kirby, b. Ballynoe Co Cork. Thank you Monica, for your searches. Do take care, Janet
Catherine Brien, b. Fermoy 1853, immigrated into U.S. Boston area & married Edward Burke. Thank you Chrisnangels for trying to make a match. Do take care, Janet

I am interested in the connection between Fermoy and Lynn, Massachusetts. The siblings of my GG grandfather, John Dwyer, settled in Lynn, as did his daughter by a first marriage, Hanora Dwyer Malone. The siblings were also shoemakers in Lynn, which was an important industry there. Janet: I see that you mention that Daniel and John Brien emigrated to Lynn. Does anyone know anything about why the people of Fermoy moved to Lynn? Perhaps the Briens and the Dwyers are related.
