Hallo

Are there any Duffys still living in the Glanworth area today? My grandmother Kathleen Duffy's family lived in Kildorrery, but she had two uncles, James in Ballinamona and William in West Glanworth. These brothers were born in the 1870s to 1880s in Co Offaly and were stonemasons.

It would be lovely to have more information on them.

  • Hi there,

You should check for the brothers in the 1901 and 1911 census (freely available online).

You could check this for more information about stonemasons:

    • Records of the Bricklayers' and Stonemasons' Guild, from 1830. (National Archives of Ireland, Acc. 1097.)
    • Dun Laoghaire Genealogical Society Journal, 'Dublin City Tradesman employed by Board of Works', Vol. 4 (2) (1995).

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Tracey

The Cork stonemasons kept their old records and they also have a page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/Cork-Masons-historical-society/154867457928853?f…
