Hello,
I'm trying to find a connection between the Walsh family of Glanworth, the O'Donnell family from Kildorrery and the Keating family.
I have been able to build a family tree for the O'Donnell family who lived in Kildorerry in the early 1900's and have established a link between Michael Joseph O'Donnell (1866-1922) (my great grandfather) and the Walsh family when he married Mary Walsh (1872-1918) (from Glanworth) in 1897. However, I am wondering if there is a link to the Keating Family (of Kildorrery) to the Walsh family through Thomas Walsh (1870) who married Johanna Keating (1871). Johanna Keating is the daughter of Michael (1834-1906) and Margaret Keating (1845-1884) (nee Keating) who married in c.1868.
I can only trace Michael Walsh (1843 - ?)(Mary's father) back to his father Patrick (1819-1864)a Patrick may have had another son William Walsh (only assuming that as he appeared as a witness on Mary Anne (O'Keeffe) and Michael's marriage record.in 1871. I have no record of who Patrick married and whether they had more children.
I am also curious to know if two other O'Donnell families in Kildorrery at the same time in the early 1900's Terence O'Donnell and Daniel O'Donnell, if or how they are related to Micheal J O'Donnell. I have traced the ODonnell branch back to James ODonnell and his wife Kate Magnier, but am unable to find any siblings that might be related to Terecne and Daniel.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi Kathleen,
It maybe that they are related as I'm having difficulty finding siblings for James ODonnell (1830 - 1887) or his parents. I have found a Edmond O"Donnell who was born in 1815 in Gallbally Co Limerick and died there (date unknown). He married Bridget Carney and had at least one daughter Mary O'Donnell in 1845. Mary O'Donnell married John Kelly and had at least one daughter Margaret in 1868 in Gallbally Co Limerick, but who married James Creed in Mitchlestown Co Cork in 1893. James Creed was the brother to Ellen Creed who married Michael Keating in 1887 and who lived in Kildorerry until his death in 1906.
I haven't come across a Charles in my search of the O'Donnell's in Kildorerry, mostly Michaels, James and Patricks, but if I do come I'll certainly let you know.

There is a Ellen Carroll O'Donnell b. about 1830 married Richard Condon and immigrated to Stonington CT. She also seems to have been associated with a Walsh family and I believe they are all from the Kildorrery area. But they are all in the US by 1850-1860. They are some of the families I am researching but with so many with the same names it is hard.
If you think there is any connection let me know and I can see if I have more info. Good luck.

To Margaret and to PamelaShea2
I have done some work on the O'Donnell family so would be interested in communicating with Margaret. I do have one or two DNA matches with a Keating descendant from Kildorrery too. (I have Carrolls, Kennedys, and Gallaghers as my main surnames in Kildorrery, but I have scant information on those families before records were kept. I am hoping DNA results will provide some missing puzzle pieces.)
Pamela I am interested in your Ellen Carroll O'Donnell who married Richard Condon. I have Condons connected to my family but can't figure them out. If Ellen's maiden name was Carroll, then she might be part of my family.
I would prefer, since we are just doing some exploring, to use email. I would also be interested to know if you have participated in DNA testing with Ancestry. I hope we can connect. My email address is janfortado"at"comcast.net

Hi Pam and Jan,
Yes I would be interested in following up to see if there is a link between the families and if our ancestors are part of the same family tree.
You can reach me at catsarecute2000@yahoo.ca
Pam,
I haven't found an Ellen Carroll O'Donnell as I'm finding it difficult to go further back than 1830 with any guarantee that the families are related.
Best wishes to you both

A Chara!
My name is Lawrence Edward O'Donnell, and I am the great-great grandson of James O'Donnell and Margaret Fitzgerald O'Donnell.
James and Margaret were married in Kildorrery, in 1844, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Their first child, Bridget O'Donnell, was baptised at St. Bartholomews, in February of 1845.
James was baptized in Mitchelstown; Co. Cork, on Dec. 17, 1822. His parents, John O'Donnell and Catherine Lonie, were married in Mitchelstown Parish.
Margaret's parents, Thomas Fitzgerald and Bridget (maiden name?) were married in Mitchelstown, on Feb. 12, 1825. At some point, Thomas relocated to Kildorrery.
James, Margaret and Bridget emigrated from Ireland, to Claireville, Ontario; Canada, in 1848.
Margaret gave birth to eight more children, in Clairville. In birth order, the siblings were: Ellen; John; Thomas; Mary Ann; James; Michael; William; David. James Jnr. was my great grandfather.
I hope this information will be of some assistance.
