  • Mike:

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Roots Ireland has the marriage date as March 6, 1832.  Here is a link to the actual parish register so you can see the record

    http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0066

Roots has five baptismal records in Killeagh but you should check the actual register: John 1833, Catherine 1834, Mary 1836, Michael 1838 and Ellen 1843.

I checked the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killeagh and there was no Michael or Catherine Murray record. Did they emigrate before 1852?

  • Hi Mike,

I am sorry to say that it will not be possible for you to find the parents of Michael Murray or his siblings.

As he got married in 1832 he would have been born well before the Church records began in KIlleagh.

The baptismal register only begins in 1829 while the Marriage records begin in 1822..

I will get in touch with Eddie Murray who was doing the research some years ago and was behind the reunion to see if he can help in anyway.

    Regards for now. Anne.

  • Hello Anne
I traced my G Grand Father John Murray and his brother James Murray to Killeagh. I Googled Murray Family reunion Killeagh, Ireland. And your 2009 Murray reunion came up with the article, video, and pictures . I was hoping that their would be a connection. Their still might be.

If you would like to give Eddie Murray my email, please feel free to do so mikefarmer129@charter.net

    Thanks in Advance

Sorry you did not hear from Eddie. I have not met him for sometime but have passed on the message to Terry so hopefully she will get in touch. Let me know if you do not hear from her.

LIke us all they were very busy at the start and put things aside for a break. I know both of them had been unwell at a stage but hopefully they are over those problems now and will be in touch.

    REgards for now. Anne.

  • I appreciate I'm joining this discussion after a long period Would it be possible to give the townland in Killeagh you traced your family to please. A line of my family is Murry ( Murray) but not with the same christian names as on your post. My Murry GGGMother ( Ellen Murray) married into the Sullivans in 1837. The Murrays and Sullivans were both from Youghal and at some stage moved to Killeagh. I have Maurice Murry who married Mary Carrol in Youghal 12/1/1801 as a direct line desendant.
