Searching for family of Thomas McCarty, born c 1810. Parents are Charles McCarty and Catherine Fleming. Thomas is in Welland County, Ontario, Canada in 1839. He is married by Father Edward Gordon @ Niagara on the Lake to Bridget Lawless, from Gowran, Kilkenny, Ireland. He is a ship's caulker. They had 2 sons born in Canada, then emigrated to the US by 1843, and had 4 more sons born in the US. Settled in Louisville, Jefferson, KY by 1850.

Kilmoe parish is in West Cork near Schull. Here is a little background.

Church records for that area are included in the Irish government site www.irishgenealogy.ie which is a free site.
I looked for Thomas and did not locate him but possibly found a brother John in 1813.(December 11). The record was in the Schull East which is also Kilmoe.

I would suggest that you spend some time on this site and search for McCarthys and McCartys in Schull East to see if you can find Thomas or other siblings. The East Schull records go back to 1807.
