Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for information on my 3rd Gr. Grandparents, James Lardner (c. 1803-1883) and Bridget O'Sullivan and their children. A family member just had a genealogical report conducted on them by the Clare Heritage Center and it was discovered that they had at least 7 children together. I know of at least two who came to the US and I was hoping someone might have information on the others. ***** The family appearst to have been settled around Cloonlaheen West townland, Kilmurry Ibrickan Parish for a couple of decades at least. James Lardner's wife, Bridget, died sometime after 1850 and he was remarried to a Catherine (Breen) O'Halloran - widow of Thomas. ***** The children of James and Bridget are as follows: James (1840-1909) - Baptized in Mullagh, Jan 1840, died in the US (Fairbury, Nebraska), husband of Mary Ann Cashman; John - Baptized in Mullagh, Apr 1841; William - Baptized " ", Feb 1843; Anne - Baptized in " ", Dec 1844; Michael - Baptized " ", Jul 1846; Patrick - Baptized " ", Jul 1848; Ellen (1850-1924) - Baptized " ", Jul 1850, died in the US (Ottumwa, Iowa), Wife of Michael Hickey ***** Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time. All the Best, Jessica

Hi Jessica,
Thank you for your message I hope that someone with information on the children who remained in Ireland makes a connection with you.
In the meantime, have you tried looking in civil records for information? Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records online at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Also, have you tried looking in the 1901/1911 census records to see if you can find any of them? These records can give lots of useful information. You can search these online here:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
You could also try looking at church records for information on the family. Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Kilmurray Ibrickan parish, follow this link:
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Genealogy links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/clare/index.html
Familysearch: www.familysearch.org
Clare Library: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/library/local-studies/locstudi1.htm
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
