My great grandparents, Mary Kingston and Daniel Daly were married in Clonakilty in 1855. On the marriage certificate there is no information about their parents or where they lived before marriage. After their marriage they lived at Drumgariff, and I believe for Mary, finally at Shannonvale. One of their daughters, Jane b 1874 married Jeremiah O'Reilly and lived at Scartagh. Jane is buried at Kilnagross, though I could not find her grave. I am anxious to find which branch of the kingston family my GG originated from as she was a protestant and Daniel, her husband, a catholic. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in replying to your message.

    As there is no information about Daniel and Mary?s parents on their marriage certificate, it would be difficult to say for sure which branch of the family they came from. As you can see from the link below, Shannonvale is located in the Civil Parish of Dromineer in Co. Tipperary:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction…;

    Church of Ireland records for the Parish of Monsea (Dromineer, Knigh and Cloghprior) begin in 1886 for baptisms and 1845 for marriages. As this is the case, you will not be able to locate a baptism record for Mary. As a long shot you could try to search for any siblings - either baptism or marriage records for Kingston surnames. This is probably the only way you will be able to find out any more about the parents in this case.

    You could also have a look at the Tithe Applotment Books and Griffith?s Valuation. Even though these sources only name the head of household, the information is still valuation. I think that you may have to continue your search by means of an information-gathering exercise, in the hope that sources become available in the future that could act as a substitute for the parish records.

    Below are the suggested sites for your search:

    www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.

    www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.

    http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However, so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.

    Please let us know if you find any further information

    Best of luck with your search
