I searched two sites which have Co. Cork RC church records and did not find the 1816 John Joyce baptismal record or a marriage record. I did locate abaptismal record for a Mary Joyce in 1808 in the Cork South parish also know as St. Finbars in Cork city. However, if Mary Desmond was actually born in 1798 then this record would be for a child in another family.

Please consider adding John's story to our XO Chronicles site and maybe someone will see a connection.

Hi Jack,

I am attaching two church Baptismal records for John Joyce and Mary Joyce both of John Joyce & Mary Desmond of Maypole Road in Cork City. John Baptised 28 Aug. 1810 and Mary on 19 May 1808.

I am also attaching the marriage of, I believe to be the sister of Mary Desmond, Eliza,  to Eugene Riordan on 20th May 1810 with Mary & John Joyce as their Witnesses. I have searched for but not found the marriage of John & Mary and I believe that because Mary Joyce was born in 1808, that her parents marriage was before the records began in that area.

I also found a marriage for a Mary Joyce to Michael Dorgan on 23 Feb 1830 in the same parish in Cork but wioth no parents names or no address. If you have no information on Mary Joyce Jnr. this may be the reason why. She may have stayed in Cork
