My ancestor David Dowling and family left Charleville to sail on the Hebe in 1823 as part of the Peter Robinson settlers to Canada. I have visited Charleville some years ago but cannot find it listed among the parishes of Cork. Under what parish name should I look for it?

  • Charleville is a Parish in County Cork but in the Diocese of Cloyne.

Mallow Heritage Centre should have some details of the records but i am not sure when the Charleville ones date from.

Mallow is a member of the Irish Family History Foundation and their costs should be checked before you commit yourself to anything. Some of what they offer are available free on othere web sites.

Hoping this is of some help.
