Looking for information about Ellen Curley married to Edward Parker. She emigrated to New York 1800's. These would be my great grandparents.I understand that she came from county Cork. They had my grandmother Christina, and another daughter named Mary. I am not sure that I have spelled the name Curley correctly. Thanks for any help.

Hi Ellen
Thank you for your query. It can be difficult to find any existing records for your great grandmother if you do not have a place name of origin in Co. Cork. Have you checked emigration records?Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps even find out an exact place of origin.

You should also check the UK archives as many Irish emigrants departed for Canada and the US from British ports. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
Also it may be helpful for you to know that a departure from Queenstown was Cobh Co. Cork.
Did Ellen marry Edward in in the US? Depending what year your grandmother left Ireland you could check the civil register. Civil registration records are available from the General Register Office (GRO). These start from 1864. You can access the website here: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
