I have found my ancestor James Roach or Roche (born c.1801 in Cork Ireland), he was living in Limehouse until 17th Dec 1859 where he died. His wife was called Mary (born c.1821 in Cork) but have not yet traced her maiden name. Their daughter was born around 1845 in Cork and was called Margaret Agnes Roche. James had at least 2 brothers Richard born c.1805 and David born c. 1817 all in Cork. James had 4 children at least, Margaret mentioned above, Mary born c.1853 , Catherine born c.1856 and James born c.1859 all in Limehouse, London. Richard's wife was called Julia but unable to find maiden name. Margaret Agnes Roche married Daniel Clancy in 1866. Catherine Roche married Charles Joseph Hitchcock in 1880. Charles ws the uncle of the famous director Alfred Hitchcock. The Roaches had a friend/neighbour in London who witnessed Margarets marriage to Daniel and he was called Bartholomew Dempsey. I have not been able to find the Roches in Cork so if anybody recognises these names it would be most appreciated.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your message.
I hope that someone researching the family makes a connection with you.
In the meantime did you know that Irish Genealogy have uploaded Catholic records from Cork city and some parts of Cork county to their website free of charge? Perhaps you may be lucky and find some records pertaining to the family that will help you narrow down a place of origin in Cork for them. You can search these here:
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
You could also check the land records to see what Roach or Roche?s were recorded as living in Cork. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Best wishes,
