Hello, I'm searching for any information and family contacts in regard to the Burgess family from Aghada, Cork who moved to Middleton Cork.
Patrick Burgess born 1877 Aghada and Margaret Curtin and their children Patrick, William and Nora born 1923 .
John Maguire born abt. 1871 and Ellen Frances Burgess born 1878 and their children Mary Frances born 1916 and John Joseph born 1918.
Thomas V. Burgess born 1871, died 1951 in Middleton, Cork and his wife Catherine Furlong. Their children Ellen Burgess and Patrick Burgess born 1921.
Chriss or Christopher Burgess born 1875 Aghada, Cork , living in Middleton in 1928 and his nieces Albinia Coyle b. 1899 New Jersey USA and Anna Coyle born 1902 New Jersey USA. who were living with their uncle Chris in 1929 in middleton Cork.
My great grandfather was from Aghada and the brother of Patrick, Chris, Thomas and Ellen. Would love to hear any news that could put me in touch with descendants of these families or any leads that can tell me about their lives. They were originally Roman Catholic religion but may not have continued as such.
Thank you!

Dear Barred_Bandicoot:
Many thanks for your post to Ireland Reaching Out and welcome to the site.
We have several volunteers in the local area who might be able to assist you and I will forward this post to them. One of them should be in contact via this thread in the next week or so.
Thank you for your interest in the Ireland Reaching Out project!
All the best,
Jane.

Hello Jane,
Thank you for the welcome!
I look forward to hearing back from the volunteers! - I do hope they can find something for me. I went through Midleton in 2015 and we purchased fuel there on our way to Aghada. I had no knowledge then that the family had settled in Midleton so I didn';t stay and look around. Fingers crossed there will be a next time :-)
Regards
Lail

Hi Barred,
I'm afraid I must apologise for suggesting that I could look for your ancestors in the Aghada graveyards as I discovered that Aghada is quite a long way from where my family is & they only have one car which I don't drive so I didn't manage to get there.
Really sorry!

Hi There,
Please see the linibbelow for the Old Aghada graveyard, work has been done to record the graves and it might be helpful. Conversely i live 10 minutes away and would be more than happy to take a look.

Hello Shiv,
Thank you for the offer of assistance! I've checked through all the names on the cemetery list and there is not one Burgess in the Aghada cemetery yet I know they definitely died there. They must all have unmarked graves, sadly. Do you know if there is by chance an existing map of the burials for the graveyard?
regards,
Lail
