My great great grandparents were Daniel and Catherine (Sheehan) Scully who left Co Cork in 1825 with their children on the Amity with the Peter Robinson Emigration for Emily Twp.Ontario Canada. I am looking for any relatives who might have stayed in Ireland. Their last child born in Ireland was Catherine who was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church in Kanurk or Lismire in 1823. The godparents were Daniel Drew and Mary Moylan.

Hi Mary,
If you browse the Tith Applotment books you will find all the Scully's living in Cork, no one listed in Newmarket or Kanturk
There are still a lot of Scully families in and around Newmarket , Scully's Pub in Newmarket for example with Mick Scully as the proprietor, his father and grandfather owned the pub before him. A first cousin of Mick Scully, Raymond O'Sullivan is a local historian there , I will try and get in touch with Raymond and ask can he find the connection to your Scully's

My husband's family is also descended from Daniel and Catherine Scully of Newmarket, who settled in Ontario Canada. We are planning our first trip to Ireland. Is there any way to find where Daniel and Catherine Scully lived in Newmarket? I looked up R.O. Aldworth in the Tithe Applotment Books and it says the location is Gurtroche Ballyhooly. That is about 30 km from Newmarket. Perhaps Aldworth lived in Ballyhooly but owned property in Newmarket as well. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Barbara

It is possible that we are related. This Daniel Scully and his family's came to Canada in 1825 with the Peter Robinson Settlers and settled in the township of Emily.
Daniel would be my great great grandfather
I was in Ireland 3 years ago and found out that Daniel's last child, Catherine was baptized Aug 31, 1823 at the RC Church (Immaculate Conception). None of the other children's records were there because of a fire just before that time which burned all records previous to that time..
I have found a lot of info working back from my Dad Lorne Scully but am missing info on Daniel and wife Catherine (Sheehan), where they were actually from as Newmarket is where he worked and lived on the Aldworth property
Feel free to contact me
