Hi Listers,
I am happy to find this site and hopefully will connect with anyone who may be related to my Driscoll line from Ballylinch. I have Jeremiah Driscoll c. 1817 in Skibbereen from Ballylinch. Parents were James Driscoll and Mary Driscoll (kissing cousins maybe!!) Jeremiah had siblings that I know of Denis 1815, Eliza 1821 and Daniel 1823. The parish records don't go back any further. Any help finding the sibblings families would be fantastic. It looks like Jeremiah was the only one to go to England in the late 1840's as none of the others can be found on the English census. Perhaps some went to America. Would love to find out. All the best. Kind regards from New Zealand, Tracey

Is it possible that the fathers name was John? See this baptismal record for Eliza on August 12, 1821. I found this record on www.irishgenealogy.ie You may want to search for other family members.

Hi there,
Yes I am sure this is the sister to my Jeremiah although the name is John and not James in the register. I have the printout of all 4 children that were found. The rest say his name was James but even on my wedding certificate there is a mistake so it isn't just in ancestral records that boo boo's are made!!
I would just love to know what happened to the rest of the family during the famine. They seemed to have dissapeared but with such common names I am finding it difficult to trace them.
Thanks for getting in touch :-)
Kind Regards

I took a quick look at the 1901 census for Ballylinch and there were a number of Driscoll families in the townland. Some of them were 70 and the 1901 census frequently had an understated age because the person estimated their age. (Birthdays were not the big deal they are now). www.nationalarchives.ie

Hi Roger,
I never thought of looking in the 1901 census to see if any were still alive. It all kinda seemed too far away from their births. If it is on Ancestry I will have a look. Thanks for the push!! They could be the children of my ancestors. Need to work backwards!
Thanks

Use the link I gave you. It takes you right to the National Archives site which has the 1901 and 1911 census.
