Looking of family of Michael McLaughlin and wife Elizabeth Murray McLaughlin. Came to America in 1857. They settled in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. Prior to that Date Micheals brothers James and Charles William McLaughlin and their families migrated. I believe they came to America circa 1830-1845.
Thank you very much

Hi John -
Where in Derry were your McLaughlins from? My Grandfather's Mother was Margaret McLaughlin. She lived on Carraloan in Magherafelt. She married James McTague and they had a son, Patrick. Margaret died when Patrick was only a year old and a short time later James took Patrick to the US.
Please let me know if you think there might be a connection.
Thank you.

Hi, there might be a connection I'm not sure. Did James come to Pennsylvania and settle. Micheal, Charles were thought to have a brother James but we have no other info. What year did James Migrate to USA. Charles came in the early 1830-32 and was in Farmingtion Twp., Clarion County working before 1833. Micheal and his family came in 1857-58. If James came circa 1830 or before he might have been the first and the knowledge for the rest of the McLaughlins to come?
Thanks

Hi Jack - James did emigrate to the US with his young son, Patrick. I can check the dates and let you know when. They settled in Wakefield, Massachusetts. James was from a big family that also settled in Wakefield. However, James' last name was McTague and not McLaughlin. His wife was Margaret McLaughlin. She died of tb when their son Patrick was only a year old. When James came to the US he remarried a woman named Margaret Clark. I think Margaret's father's name was Patrick. I can't seem to find much information about them in Magherafelt.
I can help you on my end here in the US track the McLaughlins and see if they connect.
Thanks.
