My mother and I are looking to connect our ancestors who came to America with any of their relatives who may have stayed in Ireland.  We believe they came from Letterloan area and are trying to find any documents in the area that may make that connection.  

After viewing the 1901 census records and comparing dates, names, ages, and knowing a little bit about naming patterns, we believe that we may have found grand-uncles listed there, but need to find a doucment to connect the names of those on the census with my grandfather George Crow who settled in Cecil County, Maryland, USA. 

I am need of a look at the 1831 census fragment for County Derry as well as a look at the MacOsquin Presbyterian church records from the 1820's forward.

I have recently contacted Reverend Goudy at MacOsquin Presbyterian Church because we have reason to believe that they may have attended there.  Records for this church aren't available online through ancestry.com, rootsireland.com, or the like and we are just looking for someone who may be able to access those records to check for our connection.

We are visiting Ireland in July, but are doing our best to make connections ahead of time so as to make the most of our time.  My mother's dream is to meet a living relative in Ireland and I'm trying desperately to make that happen for her.

    If u go to WWW.rootsireland.is you will find two George crowd in co Derry. One born 1846 and the other born 1895. I was under the impression that all the church records are online now.

    Thank you, but both of those George's were born more recently than my grandfather.  My grandfather George was born in 1822, and according to both US Census records and his tombstone, he was from County Derry.  His father, John Crow, was born about 1794-5, according to US Census records, also from County Derry.  They are buried very closeby to my home and I visit them regularly. 

    Grandfather George had a sister Nancy, a brother James, and we believe two other sisters, according to his father's obituary, one possibly named Margaret.

    George married a lady named Sarah Cowan.  We haven't yet found a marriage record for them, but have found birth records of their children, here in the States, all with the exception of their eldest son John. 

    I am familiar with RootsIreland and have spent much time on that site looking at a number of different things.  I think that many church records are online, but it seems that there are far more available for certain denominations than others.  My folks were Presbyterian and I took a good look at the Presbyterian Historical Society for churches in Ireland last evening.  They have a section on their page, basically explaining that most records aren't online, and are held either locally or at the PRONI center.
